La Pólvora's Consulta de Pertinencia Resolved by Chile's SEA
On 16 October 2026, Chile's Servicio de Evaluación Ambiental (SEA) for the Valparaíso Region resolved the Consulta de Pertinencia for Data Center La Pólvora, filed by DCI La Pólvora SpA on 30 July 2026. Having reviewed the project against each category of Chile's environmental regulation, the SEA determined that the project, as designed, is not required to enter the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) before execution.

What the SEA Reviewed
The resolution assesses the project component by component: the short high-voltage connection to the existing La Pólvora substation, the on-site substation serving the facility's own load, emergency backup systems, sanitation for the project's workforce, and proximity to protected areas and wetlands. The SEA found no protected areas within 1 km of the site, with the nearest wetlands more than 1.3 km away.
The SEA's analysis draws on the evaluation criteria for data center projects it published in 2026 (Resolución Exenta N° 20269910149/2026). The ruling confirms that La Pólvora's design fits within that framework.
What It Means — and What It Doesn't
The resolution does not exempt the project from Chile's environmental regulations or sectoral permits. DCI Partners remains bound by all applicable environmental standards, and the ruling rests on the project being built as described in the filing. The full record is public on the SEA's e-pertinencia platform under file PERTI-2026-9361.
