The Humboldt Cable — Next Generation Connectivity
The Humboldt cable, a new high-capacity submarine system connecting Chile, Australia, and other Pacific Rim destinations, is expected to land in Chile by 2027 at a point within the Valparaíso Region. When Humboldt goes live, Valparaíso will be the only region in Chile with landing access to two major trans-Pacific submarine cable systems — creating redundancy and opening new markets including Australia and Southeast Asia. This distinction materially separates Valparaíso from Santiago and from every other potential data center location in the country.
Ruta 60: The Fiber Backbone
Beyond submarine cable access, the Valparaíso Region is served by multiple international trunk fiber systems running along Ruta 60 — the primary cross-regional highway connecting Valparaíso to Santiago and the broader fiber backbone of central Chile. For data center sites positioned along this corridor, connectivity is not a future buildout — the infrastructure exists today, running in front of the site.
